Missing Teeth
Missing one or more teeth is a common concern that goes far beyond simple aesthetics. When a tooth is lost due to decay, fracture, or gum disease, it creates an empty space that directly alters your entire oral anatomy. Over time, neighboring teeth begin to tilt, rotate, and shift into the gap, causing bite misalignments and chewing fatigue. Furthermore, your jawbone requires active stimulation from tooth roots to maintain its density. Without this stimulation, the bone under the gap naturally resorbs, leading to changes in facial structure and premature signs of aging.
Wisdom Tooth Pain
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last set of teeth to emerge, typically between the ages of 17 and 25. Because modern human jaws are smaller, there is often insufficient physical space for these molars to grow straight. As a result, they frequently become "impacted", stuck beneath the bone or gum tissue at awkward angles. This partial emergence creates a pocket that traps bacteria, leading to a painful condition called pericoronitis (gum infection). Left unaddressed, wisdom teeth can push against your second molars, causing severe decay, dental crowding, and bone damage.
Bleeding Gums
Bleeding gums are the most common indicator of active bacterial infection and gum inflammation (gingivitis). When food particles and saliva combine, they form a sticky, bacterial film called plaque. If plaque is not thoroughly brushed away daily, it mineralizes into a hard substance called tartar or calculus, which can only be removed by a dentist. Tartar acts as a constant irritant, causing your gums to become swollen, red, and bleed easily during brushing or flossing. If ignored, the infection spreads beneath the gumline, dissolving the vital jawbone structures supporting your teeth, eventually leading to loose teeth and tooth loss.
